...to Durango's Great Natural Market

Before long, we outgrew that second space too! In 2008, we turned our biggest dream into reality by breaking ground on our current home at 300 S. Camino del Rio. Built with green, eco-progressive architecture that floods the aisles with natural light, this space allowed us to expand our commitment to sustainable sourcing and become the largest provider of natural and organic products in the Four Corners Region.

Today, Nature’s Oasis has truly grown into a one-stop community hub. We’ve been able to expand our massive natural deli, stock an incredible selection of locally grown produce, and bring exceptional partners under our roof—including Serious Delights Bakery, Jack’s Meat Market, and River Liquors.

Even though our space has changed dramatically since 1993, who we are hasn’t shifted at all. You’ll still find us in the aisles every single day, whether we’re picking out new plants for the garden department or just catching up with customers we now consider lifelong friends. We are incredibly grateful to the Durango community for growing with us every step of the way.

Our Story

Rooted in Durango Since 1993

From a tiny storefront on North Main Avenue...

Our story began back in 1993 right here in Durango, when we took a leap of faith and purchased a tiny bible and vitamin store on North Main Street. Back then, the space was small and the concept of a dedicated health food store was still a bit ahead of its time.

But we had a big vision: to create a trusted, full-service home for natural and organic living in Southwest Colorado. In those early days, we worked tirelessly to get the store off the ground. While some people thought a specialized organic market was a bit of a “crazy” idea, the people of Durango saw the vision, too. Thanks to the immediate loyalty of our neighbors, we quickly outgrew our humble beginnings, eventually moving to a larger spot by the river to expand our deli and grocery options.

Family Owned and Locally Grown

Through every single move, expansion, and milestone since 1993, one thing has remained completely unchanged: Nature’s Oasis is, and always has been, proudly family-owned and operated. We didn’t just build a business here in Durango; we raised our family alongside it. For us, the store isn’t run by a corporate checklist or a distant boardroom—it’s run by real family members who are in the store every day, listening to what our neighbors need. From unloading delivery trucks in the early morning to chatting with customers at the registers, our family’s hands-on dedication is woven into the very fabric of the market. When you shop with us, you aren’t just supporting a local business—you’re supporting a family that is deeply invested in the health, happiness, and future of the Durango community. We treat our staff like family, and we view our customers as an extension of it. That’s why we care so deeply about the quality of the food on our shelves; if it isn’t good enough for our family dinner table, it isn’t good enough for yours.
