Jason
General Store Manager
Read Bio
For nearly two decades, Jason has brought highly developed management skills to Nature’s Oasis. His commitment to customers, the store, and Durango earned him a promotion to Produce Manager after only one year, followed by a promotion to General Manager after just five years. He is well known among customers for always being ready and happy to help with any sort of need or situation.
Prior to joining our team, Jason’s experience started with managing a produce delivery company in Lawrence, Kansas, followed by working in the Pacific Northwest—the heart of organic living. For Jason, his love of gardening, playing in the dirt, and helping people live their best lives makes his career path a natural fit.
Jason has lived in Durango since 2007, where he loves doing just about anything with his son, including camping, playing baseball, and enjoying time outdoors.
A true Midwesterner, Jason was born in Columbus, Kansas, and grew up playing golf with his father (be sure to ask him what his handicap is!). He also loves riding his bike and is fiercely loyal to the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas Jayhawks—but it’s okay, we still love him anyway! His greatest joy is his son, George. They recently spent four months traveling the world by ship, so be sure to stop by and ask him about their incredible adventure!

Josh
Assistant GM, HR

Josh began his career with Nature’s Oasis as a cashier nearly ten years ago and quickly worked his way up through the ranks. He was promoted to Assistant Store Manager several years ago while continuing to manage the front of the store. Josh has naturally become the face of Nature’s Oasis due to his friendly personality and the relationship he builds with customers.
His specialties include customer service, finding great cashiers, and utilizing his highly developed organizational skills. Josh loves to solve problems, share knowledge, and do whatever it takes to help meet the needs for both customers and staff.
When he’s not at work, Josh keeps active in the great outdoors by rafting, hiking, camping, backpacking, gardening, and driving around the Four Corners and beyond. It’s our community’s good fortune that while passing through on a cross-country trip, Josh’s car broke down right here in Durango. He says he never left because he fell in love with the area almost immediately.
Josh is truly an old soul who grew up in South Georgia and North Florida. Highly intelligent, he attended university for Economics in Portland, Oregon, and he may surprise you with his extensive knowledge regarding politics and current events. Josh loves his fur baby, a cat named Irie, and says one of his greatest joys in life was getting to walk his grandmother down the aisle.

With Chef Charles’s background, he could work almost anywhere in the world, but we are incredibly fortunate to have his talents at Nature’s Oasis for over 15 combined years. Chef’s impressive resume includes working at Caesar’s Palace, the Hard Rock Café, a specialty position with a prominent Fiji hotel, Carver Brewing Company, and Seasons of Durango. He wears a variety of hats at Nature’s Oasis, including Executive Chef, Deli Department Manager, and Jack’s Meat Market Manager, while often filling in as the Store Manager on Duty, supporting the produce department, and helping out at River Liquors.
Chef is a Hall of Fame Member with Cooking Matters (a nonprofit organization in Durango), where he teaches essential kitchen and food skills to families and child educators. His most prevalent talents include listening and responding to people’s needs, whether professional or personal. Chef truly loves to teach children and adults alike about healthy cooking that is delicious, nutritious, and affordable.
When he isn’t creating masterpieces in the kitchen or managing Jack’s and the Deli, Chef’s hobbies include fishing, hunting, Southwest archaeology, camping, and shaking it up at Bluegrass shows. He and his wife, Jody—who has her own seasoning line, Anything Spice—love live music and probably see more live concerts in a year than most people do in a lifetime. As a fun bonus for desert hiking, Chef can also make a very convincing duck quack and rattlesnake sound!
Chef was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, graduated from the Community College of Southern Nevada Culinary School, and moved to Durango in 1997.

Shauna
Supplements Manager

As the manager of our Health and Beauty Department, Shauna is an essential part of the Nature’s Oasis team. This department requires an exceptional level of knowledge and understanding due to the vast number of products we carry and the unique wellness questions customers ask every day. For Shauna, helping guests find the right products to improve their health, pick out the perfect gifts, and maintain their overall well-being is a privilege she is incredibly grateful for—and drives her passion for her work.
Shauna worked in various retail capacities for nearly two decades before joining us. Fortunately, she was able to train directly with natural and organic industry expert Becky Most-Reinfeld prior to Becky’s retirement from Nature’s Oasis. While those were not easy shoes to fill, Shauna has more than risen to the occasion. She has become a wonderful manager and an invaluable resource for our customers in our most dynamic and comprehensive department.
As a Durango native, Shauna enjoys many of the outdoor activities that locals and visitors love, including hiking, gardening, cooking, rock hunting, and exploring the San Juan Mountains on her four-wheeler. A couple of fun facts you might not know about Shauna: she spent countless hours flying with her dad in his Cessna 182, and in 2009, she and her husband partnered with seven other families in a USDA self-build project to construct their own homes.
Shauna also loves to organize and make things look beautiful, which is exactly why our Health and Beauty Department always looks so lovely. However, her true loves are her husband, spending quality time with her family, and her beautiful rescue dog, Rico.
